Love Today

The Bible teaches us to not allow the sun to go down on our wrath. This means that the problems of today should be addressed today and in a loving fashion. Me must learn to let go of the grudges that divide us and learn how to forgive as Jesus did, constantly and unconditionally. Even as he hung dying on the cross, he still found it in his heart to say "Father forgive them, for they know not what they do".

The Bible teaches us that we fight not against flesh and blood. This is why we must forgive not matter what. We have all caused pain in another's life. We have all offended a brother or sister. Rather than condemn people for their wrong, understand that the enemy is just using them in the moment. When you understand that, you will pray rather than retaliate. Dr. King taught us to respond with love and peace. This works because the Bible says that love covers a multitude of sins.

How can love conquer hostility? Just watch a few episodes of Looney Tunes and you'll see it in action. No matter how many traps are set, Bugs always responds with a kiss and Elmer Fudd or Yosemite Sam get so upset that they end up in there own trap.

To make this even easier, I want to remind you of what Titus 3 says. It tells us to speak evil of no one and to remember that we ourselves were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving different lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, and hating each other. But then it says that God first showed love and kindness to us through his son, not because we deserved it, but because of his grace. Titus 3:8 reminds us that if we believe in God, we must be careful to maintain good works. This simply means that we should have the same compassion and love for others that God has already showered on us.

In doing that, some may see the light of the Lord in us and their souls won for Christ.

So let go of what they did, said, and how it all happened. Love people today, because tomorrow is promised to no man. And Jesus made it plain that if you do not forgive others, neither will the heavenly father forgive you.
