Living a Peaceful Life

In Romans 12:18, Paul makes the following statement; "If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men." -KJV
Now more than ever it has become increasingly difficult to find peace. Peace by definition, is tranquility, harmony, calmness and freedom from any hostility, violence, or disturbance. Just by looking at the definition alone, it can be difficult to picture yourself in such a state. It seems like our daily lives are filled with disturbances and hostility. Whether it be angry drivers on the road, relationship problems at home, jealousy in the workplace, or cliques in the church, we seemed to be destined for all types of disturbances and problems.
But there is another type of peace. It is the peace of God. It is a peace that cannot be defined... Philippians 4:7 "And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
God will give us his peace if we ask for it (see Philippians 4:6). His peace is not like our fleshly peace. Our peace depends on external conditions being in sync and in harmony with our expectations and desires. His peace provides calmness, joy, comfort, and so many other things regardless of external conditions. He keeps our hearts and minds stayed on him even when all hell has broken loose around us.
The peace of God will cause you to smile when people talk about you. Laugh when they dig ditches for you. Pray when they persecute you. Have mercy when they judge you. And live life when you've gotten a bad report from your doctor.
It's the peace of God that confuses the enemy. We don't deserve it but always remember what Jeremiah 29:11 says, "I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you an expected end."
Be blessed, we made it through another week.
